Collective Haul

Posted by Unknown at 00:34 0 comments
Hey guys! Sorry, for doing another haul post, but I've picked up a couple of things lately, that I wanted to show you guys. Hope you enjoy it ! :)

Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer: This was in a priceline bargain box for $1.00 AU. The colour I got was in Cocoa. It's a shimmery purple/brown shade, that has the trademark 'tingly' feeling that all Burt's Bees moisturising lip products have. The colour payoff is really good, however the lasting power is similar to that off an ordinary lip balm. I wore it as my lipcolour to a friend's costume party as 'goth', and it complemented the deep smokey eye, I was wearing perfectly.

Natio Nail Colour: Also $1.00 AU in the priceline bargain bins. This colour is a pale baby pink cream colour. On top of a clear base coat, this colour is transparent even after a few coats. I need to pick up a white nail polish that I can layer this on top off. Hopefully the colour payoff will be better.

Australia Lip Butter: ALSO $1.00 (haha I'm such a cheapskate), this lip butter is in brownie points. It's pretty sheer, and not that moisturising. It reminds me of the lip balms you would use when your a little kid that are more for fun than anything really ESPECIALLY the packaging.

Beauty Essentials 9 Colour Eyeshadow Palette: A palette full of warm colours, that are quite pigmented. Most of the colours are fairly similar and they are slightly chalky, but a good palette for $5.95. Picked this up at priceline as well. The colours are all shimmery. I'm undecided about this palette.

Maybelline 24 hr Color Tattoo: Picked this up at chemist warehouse a couple of weeks ago when they were having a really good sale. I believe I picked this up for less than $9.00 AUD. I bought this in the shade 'Too Cool' because it is a shimmery pearly white colour, thats perfect to brighten up my inner conner or brighten up my whole lid. Also this kind of acts as a base, as I can just layer any other shadows on my eyes and they just sort of stick to the creme eyeshadow without an odd colour peeking through. Stays all day. Would love to pick up some more of these :)

Garnier BB Cream, Miracle Skin Perfector: Oily and Combination Skin: Was not planning on picking this up, but I was in chemist warehouse and it was on sale for $8.69 AUD. I've heard alot of good reviews on this, and all of them say DONT LET THE ORIGINAL VERSION SCARE YOU INTO NOT BUYING THIS ONE. I'll do a review on this soon

Revlon Nail Polish in Charming and Minted: I've been lusting over pastel colours and when I saw chemist warehouse have a buy one get one free on Revlon Nails, I picked these up straight away. Not only were they selling at under $12.00 for one polish (3 dollars cheaper than RRP) they were half price when I bought two? WOW, so I bought 2 revlon nail polishes for less than the price of 1 normally. Charming: a lilac colour and Minted... well its mint :) I'm so excited to paint my nails these colours in Spring.

Essence Stay All Day Long Lasting Eyeshadow: Picked this up at Priceline for $5.50 AUD in the gold colour. Very pretty, very pigmented, very smooth. Very comparable to the Maybelline Colour Tattoos.

Essence Kajal Pencil (white): I know in my last haul, I bought a savvy white eyeliner, but at $1.99, I could not resist trying this one too. They're pretty similar, I'm unsure which one lasts longer on my waterline. Still not a HG white kohl pencil.

Essence Eyebrow Pencil in 01 black: $2.95 AU from priceline. A standard black eyebrow pencil. I'm still not sure what colour I'm supposed to use on my eyebrows. haha, yeah, as long as I dont use it too forcefully, it defines without giving me the scour brows.

Essence Lipstick: $3.95. A pretty pink shade, that appears quite glossy on the lips. Perhaps a little too glossy and less 'stick' like. I feel like it doesn't stay very long, because its so watery. I also realised, I like cream and matte shades of lip colours much more than this.

Sigma Flat Angled Kabuki- F88: Review coming up on these brushes. $16.00 US on the website. I shipped with a couple of friends. I really love this brush, so dense, and so soft. The angle makes it lie really nicely on my face and I'm able to get into every nook and cranny on my face. Blends out my foundation like a dream.

Sigma Tapered Blending- E40: $9.00 US on the website. I just want to say for top quality brushes, sigma is very affordable. Very soft however I think the blending brush  it too big for the nonexistant creases I have on my asian eyes. I need to experiment with this more before I give you guys a proper review.

okay guys, so that's my haul!

What's a good white nail polish?

Any other products that I need to try?

Want a specific review on any of these products?

talk soon you lovely people,

nail of the day

Posted by Unknown at 00:28 0 comments

Hey guys!

I've got this new obsession with pastel cream colour nail polishes. This blue colour (shade 97, Absolutely Blue), I picked up from Essence quite recently for $2.50 AU at priceline. Bargain! After reading a few blogs, I was curious to try out Essence polishes, as they had some great reviews and are as cheap as chips.

I'm very impressed with this brand of nail polish. I use my trusty Sally Hansen Hard As Nails base coat (which by the way, I love) and a cheapy BYS top coat but this polish stayed on for 5 days with no chips at all. On the 5th day, the tips of my pointer fingers started chipping but it was very minimal. Very, very good quality. I used two coats of nail polish, to get the opaque finish shown above, that is the same exact colour as shown in the bottle. I am very impressed.

Have you tried Essence Nail polishes?

What did you think about them?

Any other products you would recommend?

Let me know :)

haul time :)

Posted by Unknown at 01:42 0 comments
hey guys! i have a haul for you guys of a few things i bought this week.

last week i went to my local westfield on a mission. To buy vans for my best friend's birthday. couldn't resist, but popped into priceline and rubi and picked up some pieces. dont worry guys, i got a great deal on alot of these things :)

the biggest saving of all. i dont know if you can see from the picture but this box was originally worth 90 dollars and RRP was $49.95 AUD. I PICKED IT UP FOR 5 DOLLARS. BARGAIN RIGHT? it was in the clearance bin at priceline and it was the first thing i spotted as i walked in. Inside it includes a pressed bronzer, mineral foundation, mineral blush, mineral eyeshadow and a powder brush and blush brush and also a pamphlet showing how to recreate some looks. remember back in my real techniques post, how i wanted a bronzer? YAY, i finally got one. I have to say, swatching it, it doesnt look like a very good contour bronzer as there is shimmer, but I'll have to play around with this set some more. For all you aussie girls, i recommend you go check it out. 5 dollars is a bargain, so hurry into your priceline. I got the set in the shade light, and there is a medium as well. I believe only the shade of the foundation changes. Everything else stays the same.

I also picked up an essence smokey eyes brush (im sure it was about $2.50AUD) and Savvy DB Soft Glide Eyeliner ($8.99 AUD), Savvy DB Kohl Eyeliner ($4.99 AUD) and Savvy DB Trio Eyeshadow ($4.99 AUD) . Savvy by DB at priceline is on sale for 3 for 2 right now. I never used to pay attention to this brand, always overlooking it and heading toward the maybelline/revlon/rimmel stands instead, but i was reading a blog (can't remember whose) and they mentioned that the soft glide eyeliner was so smooth, black, and just plain amazing. after a quick swatch, i have to agree. i own the covergirl liquidline eyeliner, but this one is so so much better. A swatch from yesterday, after multiple washes using cetaphil and soap, still has the faintest remains on my hand. I wonder how it and the white kohl eyeliner will go in my waterline. I picked up the purple eyeshadow because I've lately been interested in experimenting with colours and purple is supposed to make brown eyes pop. Also the essence smokey eyes brush, I am hoping it will blend shadows I put in my crease well. For ages, I've been looking at blending brushes (like MAC 217) that I can buy in Australia, but no brand I have found sell any similar. This is the only 'longer' type brush I have found.

I've been heaps into steels lately, and when I saw these (on sale at rubi 2 for $10 AUD) I picked them up straight away. I've seen similar rings at ASOS but I never was bothered to pick them and so 5 dollars was a steel.<-- haha see what i did there? ;) The cuff also comes in rose gold and gold but I'm thinking I'll wear it to formal, and silver matches the dress I want to buy better.

Today, I went passed Vinnies and decided to go in and have a look. The books there are ridiculously cheap and still very good quality. Both these books were $3 dollars each. Seven Ancient Wonders is hard back and looks as if it is brand new condition. Love. :) The Girl Who Played with Fire is more worn in, but still. Books are books, they're bound to get old. And if youre funny about going into Vinnies or other places like that, dont be. There were heaps more books I wanted but I'll buy them after I finish reading these. I recommend going into your local second hand shop. If not for thrifting clothes, then to pick up some bargain books :)

so thats it for today!

What have you guys have hauled recently?

Any good sales on?

You want a review for any of these items?

Let me know :)

empties

Posted by Unknown at 03:40 0 comments
hey everyone! a quick empties post of a couple of products i've used up recently :)

1. Palmer's Cocoa Body Butter, Ultra Moisturising Cream: oh my gosh, can i just say that this smells amazing. *sniffs product. I'm horrible at describing scents, but can i tell you, i could just sit here and sniff it all day. it smells exactly like the smell you sniff (LOL) when you walk into candle shops, ahhh smells so good. I've used many products from the palmer's range and right now im using the daily moisturiser ( a review will come later) but this product is amazing. Says its perfect for dry to very dry skin and that it will melt into the skin, leaving it silky soft and smooth with an even, radiant tone. can i say, i agree with this completely. I was using this product throughout winter, where my skin gets extremely dry and this just soothed it completely. I use it as soon as i get out of the shower, and slather this on my skin and boy, during the night i can occasionally get whiffs of this as im sleeping. obviously this has fragrance to it, so it might not suit suitable skin types but at the cheap price of AU$10.99 from priceline and all other pharmacies and supermarkets, this is well worth it. hydrates, moisturises and smells delicious :)

2. Nivea Rich Moisturising Body Lotion 400mL: Wow i cannot believe how long this has lasted me. I use it everytime I get out of the shower on my body, and its lasted me ages. I've already replaced this for another one because its my go to body lotion. Its not as moisturising as the Palmer's Cocoa Body Butter, but especially in the summer, I do not need as rich of a cream. This is good for over all moisturising. I love it, and its one of those products that i will use forever. Its so easy to use and i love the pump action, which keeps this product hygienic and no fuss. RRP AU$7.79 at priceline, but right now it is on sale for $5.99

3.John Frieda Collection Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Creme: This product was okay for me. it says it instantly camouflages imperfections; leaves dull dry hair shiny soft and supple. I felt this product was too heavy on my hair, and left it looking ... like i had product in my hair. i only applied it to the ends of my hair, and it just made it too flat. i really didnt like it that much. I was hoping for a product that would help soothe my split ends but this was not it. i guess the heaviness is what is supposed to be the 'frizz ease' part of this product but heavy hair does not compensate for that. but as im reading the back of this product, perhaps i was using it wrong. maybe it wasnt a repairing product but a taming one, like for if you want to flatten down your fly aways. im not sure, i might give it another shot in the future. AU$17.99 at priceline and other pharmacies and supermarkets.

that's it for now.

What were your empties this month?

Any of these products you've tried before?

Would you purchase these products again?

oh yes, for my Australian readers, regarding my last post on real techniques. I would highly recommend you not to buy them at priceline but online at iherb.com. they sell these brushes at US prices ($17.99 for the core collection) and if you search online you'll be able to find many discount codes for first time buyers. shipping is $6.00 or $4.00 on orders over $40.00. I would recommend you buy them from there :).

talk to you guys soon.

real techniques, by samantha chapman

Posted by Unknown at 02:40 0 comments
hey guys!

so a little fun fact about me is that i go to fitness first a couple of times a week for yoga. near my fitness first there is a priceline that i drop into all the time after im done.

so after watching xofemmebeauty's video on how samantha chapman's (a youtube beauty guru and real life make up artist) brushes are now available at priceline, i was curious to go in and have a look. sure enough, there they were, just sitting there in their little pink box with the iconic gold (core collection), pink (face, although im not too sure) and purple (eye brushes)  handles on full display. Bending down to take a good look, i first noticed stippling brush that was so raved about on youtube. i took a look at the price, and it was somewhere around the $20 dollar mark, which considering Australian brush prices, is not too bad for a high quality brush that i could use for foundation. Sadly, i did not have any spare money on me at that moment, so for that day the brushes had to pass.

So the next day at school, i was chatting to some of my friends about the samantha chapman brushes and discussing how i was going to purchase the stippling brush. However, my friend recommended to me that i should just buy the core collection. not only is it better price for value, but it also came with a foundation brush and the buffing brush that many guru's used for buffing in foundation.

the next week after yoga, i made my way to priceline. I was not too sure whether or not to purchase these brushes full price, because priceline always has sales going on. however, when i went in, i saw the real techniques range on sale :D LOL the core collection RRP was somewhere around 44 dollars (sorry for the approximation) but it was on sale for $38.25. So, i decided to take advantage and purchase them.

YAY :)

buffing brush, foundation brush, contour brush, detailing brush

So the collection comes with a buffing brush, a foundation brush, a contour brush and a detailing brush as well as a brush case that doubles as a stand.

so this buffing brush was probably the brush i was most excited about. for almost 10 dollars, this brush is absolutely amazing. i know, online you can get it cheaper, but it was just so much easier buying it a priceline. the bristles are very dense and soft and feel very very nice along my face. i used this with my skin 79 bb cream, and it seems to blend pretty well. to be honest, the package says to use it with mineral and powder products, and youtube guru's tend to use it with liquid, which my bb cream is neither, but it seems to do the job pretty well.

the detailing brush is 'precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas or use with lipstick'. i cannot comment on this, because i have yet to use this brush. i know that sounds bad, but i have my nude concealer brush that i am perfectly content with, so i see no need to use this one just yet.

sorry about the dodgy editing, i wrote glitter instead of polish ==;
the contour brush to apply bronzer and highlight. so i dont have a bronzer at the moment, i know BIG SHOCKER, but its next on my to buy list. any good recommendations? its once again very soft. and the shape of this brush fits into your contour extremely well. very excited to start using :)

lastly, the foundation brush. absolutely love it. the point allows me to get around my noise and under my eyes really well. it almost doubles as a concealer, if im lazy and i cant be bothered switching brushes. its a little small for my face i find, so i find the buffing brush takes less time, but still manages to give me a flawless finish.

so thats my overview on the samantha chapman real techniques brushes. for roughly ten dollars a brush, i think its well worth it, considering how manicare brushes as well as model prefer brushes are either equal to or more expensive than these, and considering how popular these brushes are in the UK, i dont think you can go wrong.

So what do you think about these brushes?

Have you tried them?

What brushes would you recommend?

Let me know.
